Hey Earth! Them that know me know that I am a huge basketball fan and I play all the time. I have been having this debate with a few of my friends and I just want to know what the majority of the world thinks. I want to know who is the better player: MJ in his prime or Kobe in his prime? I said Jordan. Now I know there are plenty of Kobe nut swingers out there who would emphatically disagree with me, but allow me to make my case:
The only reason why people say Kobe is better is because they see him play on a regular basis. His games are in prime time, he's on SportsCenter, All-Star appearances, etc. Michael Jordan is retired and trying to build a struggling Charlotte franchise. His old games are not televised, he doesn't get much press or media attention except for when it comes to the Bobcats.
I guarantee you, if you go to YouTube and you put in "Michael Jordan", you will see just how better he was. Better at clutch shooting, exploding to the basket, basketball IQ, and better at knowing how and when to take over a game. Don't get me wrong now. Kobe is a BEAST and a highly skilled player and is currently the best player in the world! (over Lebron but that's another discussion) He is tremendous at using his left hand, making tough shots, and taking over a game. Not to mention 81 points in a single contest! But I have seen both players play, including the playoffs and I have seen Kobe play in person. Michael Jordan is still and will always be the best player ever to play this game!
Kobe is having a good season but he has yet to master when to assert himself in a game. I have seen games where the Lakers have been so close and Kobe has failed to do what he has to do. His nickname is the "Mamba". Named after a snake which strikes at extreme accuracy and deadliness. This season he's playing more like a common grass snake. Come on Kobe!
